Siemens Creates New Imaging, IT Division

Siemens Medical Solutions announced yesterday the creation of a new division named Image and Knowledge Management, as part of a move to fortify its imaging business with interoperable, roles-based solutions for workflow and clinical-decision information.

The new entity combines three existing businesses - syngo(R) multi-modality imaging software platform, RIS/PACS and computer-aided diagnosis (CAD). The division also introduces a new business in the field of knowledge-based clinical decision support.

Ajit Singh has been appointed to lead the new division, Holger Schmidt will head the Oncology Business and Jochen Dick has been named president of Special Systems Division.
